So Shaqiri, yes I have the same problem crouchie did, I have no idea if its correct or if i'm actually talking about pique's wife.
Anyway, unlike konoplyanka this seems realistic. Despite what we are hearing from every ney sayer in the press, reports now say he actually seems to buy into the fact proving his worth at a PL club will see him back in the champions league quicker than sitting on inters bench. I got to say it seems like a win win for all parties involved, the player gets football and a chance to prove his worth and we get a great player and almost certainly a huge profit.
Other transfer news, the heavily linked udinese midfielder Badu seems to have gone cold as the never ending sergi roberto rumours gather pace again, while we are still disturbingly linked with downing.
Rumours that hughes has made an offer to maxi pererra the experienced uraguay rb available on a free from benfica, aplayer england and fans are familiar with from his uraguay days, again seem ambitious as he will likely get deals from around europe.
Exciting news coming from spain as stoke apparently have agreed a fee to sign highly rated real madrid youngster sergi molina, the defensive midfielder has represented his country at youth level and is regarded highly by the madrid club. Reports suggest this move is close but is not yet agreed.
In other club news Begovic looks certain to join chelsea's bench for 8million while improved offers for nzonzi roll in from around europe. Both sales look imminent. Good news as odemwingie signs a year long contract extension, but not quite so good for super johnnie walters whos contract talks have apparently hit a stand still and now looks highly likely to join pulis at wba.
So as scary as the prospect of losing begovic, nzonzi and walters, for reduced fees, may seem on paper. The prospect of adding the likes of molina, roberto, badu, perraira, SHAQIRI as well as any other rumoured targets for minimal outlay, and it certainly looks like an exciting window for the potteries.
Sheeee stoood there laughing. HAHAHA

Still worried that the delay over Shaqiri is engineered by his agent to get bigger clubs interested. If that does happen and a CL club comes in for him it'd be hard for him not to say "yes". I think we need to get this one wrapped up sooner rather than later.
I agree that the move would be good for both player though. I think Shaqiri plays best when he's the star man.
It'd show great intent by Stoke and could possibly make signing other big names easier. I'd love to start next season with an attacking lineup of Arnautovic (Austrian Ronaldo), Bojan (next Messi), Shaqiri (Alpine Messi) & Diouf/Joselu
01 Jul 2015 17:39:00
Shaqiri to Stoke for 12m? Seriously?
Wonder if this is just Stoke trying to tell Konoplyanka that they are serious about buying quality.
If Stoke were to get their targetted figure of 10m for Nzonzi, paying out 2m on balance to get Shaqiri would seem good business. He is also young enough to be sold on. ( Coates stated objective)

Rumour is that Aston Villa are favourites to sign Asmir Begovic from Stoke City in the transfer windowÂ

That ain't happening. Bego wants to play for a Champions league team, not a Championship team. He can earn decent money and play regularly at Stoke, Why would he move to relegation fodder like Villa? No mate dream on.
29 Jun 2015 22:45:27
Still think Begovic will wait to see if DeGea goes to Real.if he does then he will join Man U.
He would be no 1 and it would mean he does not need to move house. No contest.
23 Jun 2015 09:16:43
Hi Ed, since I don't know whether the question is relevant to Chelsea I thought I'd ask on this page. What's the situation with Begovic right now? Are Chelsea still interested in bringing him in as a replacement for Cech? Or is that not a viable option?
Any help would be appreciated, thank you and have a good one :-)
{Ed001's Note - last I heard he was not interested in being a back up mate. Which is why Stoke are selling him as they need to make space for Butland.}

Yeah I figured. Papers were running wild with it though :-)
Thanks for clearing that up, Ed :)
{Ed001's Note - Chelsea have definitely shown interest, so they just ran with it.}
24 Jun 2015 13:10:51
Feel sure if Asmir moves to PL side it would have to be Man U where he would be first choice ( assuming DeGea goes to Real ). His wife loves the area so forget London. Another thought is if Nzonzi goes Stoke might persuade Asmir to stay By offering a better deal. DeGea has supposedly been offered 250k week to stay. Asmir not getting more than 50k at present. With the players they are being linked with they will have to raise their wage limit.
16 Jun 2015 23:09:52
Looks like Konoplyanka might still join Stoke. Probably won't be sorted til 1July when his contract with Dnipro has ended. They want him to sign a contract then let him go. That way they would get a fee but if that happens he would miss out on a massive signing on fee. Tricky

Stoke have Liverpool at home for the first game. Hope we start the new season where we left off.
11 Jun 2015 11:52:47
Looks like DeGea is going to Real. Begovic will now probably go to Man U as both he and his wife enjoy life in this Area . How much for him? If as reported Man U want 25m for DeGea surely Stoke would ask at least 15m for Bego.
If this happens who would we like to bring in with the money?

12 Jun 2015 00:28:28
He's apparently got a buy out at £8m in his contract if it's a Champions League club.
Only got 1 year left too so £15m might be a little steep.
Seeing Butland in action though; I'm not as concerned as I would have been during previous close seasons.
12 Jun 2015 12:01:58
Surely if DeGea, who also is in last year of his contract, is worth 25m then 8m is a steal. Hernandez AND 8m I perhaps? Wishful thinking.?
01 Jun 2015 16:28:14
Hey ed Looks like Bakkhalis name has sprung up again. Stoke supposedly one of a dozen clubs who want him. This is all coming from him in a video. Not backed by anyone yet. He says he will decide in next few days. Can't wait!

03 Jun 2015 13:09:30
He's apparently cut his wage demands in half
18 May 2015 17:58:46
BEGOVIC
Selling for 8m. Its a joke. Liverpool paid more than that for Milonet and look what he has done . Now 'Liverpool want to replace him. 15m would be reasonable, If deGea goes to Real Man U will want 20m for him.
Do Stoke really need to sell to raise funds.? Doubt it. If you are buying striker you either buy upto 10m or over 20m. Don't think we would pay 20m for anyone. I think we may go for Gestede from Blackburn or is it still possible we may try for Hernandez if he returns to Man U.
I feel sure we will let Huthy go and should get a couple of mil for him and we shall not have to pay wages for Wilkinson or Palacios.
It looks like being an exciting summer with Hughes again trying to do business early, particularly if he is bargain hunting from the freebie list which will have some very useful players on it
Any thoughts on anyone else we should let go?
What to do with Odemwingie and Moses? Too many injuries?
From 1 June we should have Danish keeper and Moha Ouriachi on board for peanuts.

20 May 2015 11:12:24
Who is 'Milonet'? The sole reason that the figure of £8m for Begovic is being bandied around is because he is out of contract in a year's time. Given that, and also how relatively poor some of his performances have been this season, it seems about right. The only ways SCFC will realistically get any more is if 2 clubs get into a bidding war.
20 May 2015 12:58:42
Oops! Meant Minolet.
Degea is out of contract next year like Bego but Man U still put 25m price on him so I think 15m is quite reasonable. If Bego goes we would need another keeper to back up Butland and Hauhaard. Bogdan or Myhill or Ben Amos?
Keep an eye on developments in Spain. Ramirez, Roberto, Traore all probably leaving Barca according to reports. Think we would go for l least one of them
27 May 2015 12:36:58
It's Mignlolet and the only reason we are offered him at starting price 8 million is to get him out there and entire people and then up the price when people are interested
30 May 2015 11:15:42
Firstly, we wouldn't go for Hernandez because he'll be looking for a European competition club, and Gestede is a risk because he can score 20 goals in the championship but he wouldn't do it in the Premier League
31 May 2015 15:50:13
Possible Man U might try to use Hernandez as part of deal for Begovic?

You've been reading the Oatcake messageboard, haven't you?
30 May 2015 11:18:42
Tyrone Mings, Liverpool and Spurs interested no chance.
Zakaria Bakkali, unrealistic, probably sign a new contract.
Charlie Austin, we won't pay £10m for him.
Andros Townsend, England international, Spurs will ask for £20m
Moses the only likely one.
Moral of this message, stop requesting players off your fifa 15 career mode, be realistic.
30 May 2015 22:32:27
We will get trippier and rickie lambert need a good cdm cause whelan is getting old so we can do with kouyate from west ham or sergi Roberto and we have a good chance with him cause best mates with bojan and Marc muniasea
Unrealistic one diame from hull come on stoke let's get Europe

'Tripper', as you call him, may well be on his way to Bournemouth.
07 May 2015 17:56:29
I think Stoke will be quite active in the close season. Probably combination of freebies, loans and "expensive" buys.
One of the buys to consider could be Steve Caulker from QPR. Would make a good partner for Ryan. As he could cost 5m + we then might need to loan a decent striker. Bamford (Chelsea) or Wilson (Man U ) would do nicely. If we went for Bamford we then need to either buy Moses or cancel the loan.
Still believe we will get another recruit from Spain, probably a mid fielder.
All this could change if we sell Begovic. We should not take less than £15m for him. If he goes we actually need to bring in 2 keepers as I believe Sorensen is retiring. Boaz Myhill would do for one. Maybe Ben Amos from Man U for the other.
Not certain our full backs are upto standard. Raphael will be on way out of Man U? There is also the rumour of a freebie young full back from Holland.

30 May 2015 11:31:10
Ben Amos hasn't done anything for his entire career so what's the point, we've signed that Jakob Haugaard no less than a week ago, dont' discard him already, have a look at some clips of hiom, from a keepers perspective (me) he's a great young talent, and he'll be some big competition for Jack Butland this season, and Bego will not go, he'll stay for at least another year, he loves the club, so does his wife.
Also we don't need a striker, Diouf has been fantastic all season, you might disagree but after being the top scorer this season (13) Jon Walters (10) Crouch (9/10) do we really need another?? Think about that.
Furthermore, do we need another midfielder? Steven N'Zonzi, Charlie Adam, Glenn Whelan, Stephen Ireland. We've also got Oliver Shenton and Yusuf Coban being offered professional contracts so they'll be pushing for a place.
Moreover, do we need any big player to partner Ryan? I'm guessing you haven't been going to the Brit this season, because Marc Muniesa has been an incredible addition to this football club, he's been by far the best defensive signing we have made since Ryan, with the exception of Robert Huth. I completely agree that we do need a winger and some pace in the fullback position but besides that we have a great squad.
So stop expecting such big things out of this club, even I don't expect us to be a Europa League or Champions League because it is not REALISTIC, book up man!
03 Jun 2015 13:14:15
Caulker is a relegation machine - 2 clubs in 2 years. He'll be better in the Championship where he truly belongs.
Shawcross and Muniesa is the partnership for the future with Wolli as back up.
05 May 2015 13:01:09
I am told Hughes has decided to give Butland the chance to be number one next season. Mainly because the sale of Begovic would raise extra funds for additions to the team.
That is saying a sale can agreed, though he does seem to be ready to move on now.

Jesus Christ, we're in the top 30 richest clubs in the world, why would we need to get additional funds through selling players?
03 Jun 2015 13:27:07
Begovic will go but it won't be to 'raise funds'. Peter Coates is worth something like £750 alone. When Begovic goes it will be for career progression.

As I understand it ( can U confirm Ed? PSV said he would never play for them again a couple of months ago. So he was available but we would have to pay compo due to his age. He is out of contract on 1/6/2015 so would be free. Just have to pay an agent fee. Well worth a gamble
{Ed002's Note - PSVs Zakaria Bakkali has attracted attention from Celtic, Manchester United, Chelsea, Zwolle, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Stoke, Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal, Norwich and Augsburg. I spoke with a "specialist" in the Netherlands leagues last summer and he said the player is light years away from first team football in the EPL and any move this past summer would have potentially been a dent in his career - although Chelsea did offer to send him to Vitesse Arnhem on loan. A lot of the "bigger" clubs that were interested have seemingly stepped back. A move to Celtic or Zwolle would probably be best for the kid but I am not so sure he sees it that way.}
05 May 2015 18:57:37
Sounds like your info is that this guy is too big for his boots. Pulis would sort him out!
{Ed001's Note - he does have real issues, even Liverpool walked away after finding out what he is like and we signed Balotelli for heaven's sake!}
10 Jun 2015 19:32:40
Looks like Sevilla are taking a chance with him and maybe pinching Konoplyanka as well.
28 Apr 2015 18:19:09
BOLASIE 15m
I recommended him to Stoke in 2012 when he was with Bristol City.
He only moved to CP because he wanted to move back to London. Not much chance he would move to Newcastle Everton or Stoke then?
Still all the talk is about bringing in backs and wingers. We still need a goalscorer
Suspect we will not keep Wollsheid. He has not really proved he is Premiership class. Maybe bring Huth back and look for younger CB to groom, although maybe a fit Muniesa would fit the bill.
Cameron has proved unreliable in defence. if he is not going to move to midfield he should go.

Rumoured again as want Cattermole! No thanks we have Whelan to give away needless free kicks and getting booked.
Latest Moses injury raises question whether he will worth permanent offer. Maybe go for another year on loan and see how fit he gets.
Still believe we will go back to Barca for a summer signing. Need a regular scorer to get into Europe. If we find one Crouch could go. Huth and Adam as well while still worth a few bob.
