Stoke miss out on Victor Wanyama and Wilfried Bony who moved to Southampton and Swansea respectively,
so Mark Hughes turns his attention to Jermaine Defoe and could possibly send a bid Aston Villas way for Stephen Ireland.

1.) 11 Jul 2013
I'd prefer Sergi and Imanol anytime.

2.) 11 Jul 2013
I'd prefer Sergi over Ireland but Defoe over Agirettxe, Jermaine is a proven goal grabber and carried Spurs through the first part of the season! Could do it for us too!

3.) 12 Jul 2013
Mark Hughes has said he will allow crouch 2 leave 2 qpr as long as he can find a replacement so I doubt Defoe will join stoke

4.) 12 Jul 2013
At least Imanol can develop over time. I'm worried that Defoe might just be another Crouch once he moves.

5.) 12 Jul 2013
Stoke missing out on all the best targets, cruz, bony, wanyama, cornelius, who's left, Defoe come on 30 year old for 6 million not a good buy, stoke can't attract the players we need, stoke looking favourites for the drop.

6.) 12 Jul 2013
What are you talking about, call yourself a fan. Cruz - old and slow, Wanyama, Cornelius and Bony - expensive and unproven. We have made 2 great signings so far, this new regime will be fabulous. Have faith.

7.) 12 Jul 2013
But we need strikers! Pieters and Muniesa are great but we need a 15-ish goalscorer. I heard that Charlie Austin's value dropped after he had a failed move to Hull City. So at least maybe we can cash in on him?

8.) 12 Jul 2013
Favourites for the drop are you stupid! scott sinclair? jermaine defo? I for one trust mark hughes will do a good job and get us playing some decent football!

9.) 12 Jul 2013
People keep on about Charlie Austin because he has had a good couple of seasons in the lower league's. Martin Paterson never made it at Stoke and neither did Adam Rooney but they made a decent fist of it in the lower leagues. I agree we need a goalscorer but we need some one who has a proven record playing at a higher level. The fact that the club have supposedly contacted about 10 football agents with this in mind proves that they know what they want but it is difficult to find at a sensible price

10.) 12 Jul 2013
With Stoke creating more chances this coming season and playing more expansive football i'm not sure that we are desperate for a striker. We have international strikers at the club who I am sure would thrive on more chances.

11.) 12 Jul 2013
I think James Alabi could be one to watch he will be givein a chance and he looks like he could score 10 as a sub

12.) 12 Jul 2013
Bony un proven I don't think so - we will see.

13.) 12 Jul 2013
I wouldn't mind if we gave jerome a chance. some nice passes and maybe he could score

14.) 12 Jul 2013
Defoe is an utter steal for £6m if we get him for that so be it, but I don't see Crouchy as much of an neccesity for Defoe as you all say, I mean come on he does just as good Crouch or no Crouch!

15.) 12 Jul 2013
It would be good to see a proven goal scorer at the Britannia! As someone mentioned earlier, wanyama, cornelius, bony etc are unproven so they could turn out to be flops but with a new style of play on the cards for Stoke it will be like watching a totally new side even with the players we already have, you need to remember Stoke already had a decent squad and it was TP who moulded his style into every player but that will now change and it's about time we saw them play the football everyone's craving & everyone playing in there correct positions! Bye bye long ball

16.) 12 Jul 2013
The long ball aspect will still slightly remain but we need the physical side to stay yeah all the mids, fullbacks and strikers can play fancy football but don't let the centre-backs play flimsy defending!

17.) 13 Jul 2013
Yes, Bony is unproven. Can you remember him playing in the EPL before. No, neither can I, hence UNPROVEN.
